É sabido que os Stories do Instagram não desaparecem após 24 horas, mas são armazenados por anos pela plataforma. No livro Stories:To store, apresentamos uma coleção de Stories apropriados ao longo dos últimos dois anos, em diferentes momentos e contextos. Para a criação dessa coleção, utilizamos um perfil falso que coletava essas imagens de perfis aleatórios ao redor do mundo, com a única condição de não capturar selfies, nem momentos intímos, apenas momentos que fossem fáceis de serem esquecidos. Inspirado pelas palavras de Susan Sontag em seu livro « Diante da Dor dos Outros», onde ela afirma que “um livro de fotografias é um livro de citações”, nesse projeto as imagens são acompanhadas de trechos de livros de escritores como Albert Camus, Clarice Lispector, Pedro Lemebel, Jennifer Egan, Anne Carson, Siri Hustvedt, Paul Auster, Ursula K Le Guin, Jean Genet, David Foster-Wallace, James Joyce, Lydia Davis, bell hooks, JG Ballard, Virginie Despentes, entre outros. Este livro é uma continuação de nossa pesquisa sobre coleções de imagens, apropriação e reprodutibilidade digital.

Stories:To Store faz parte da Bibliothek für Gestaltung Basel e da biblioteca de arte contemporânea da Beaux-Arts de Paris.

It’s well known that Instagram Stories don’t disappear after 24 hours, but are stored for years by the platform. In Stories:To store, we present a collection of Stories taken over the last two years, at different times and in different contexts. To create this collection, we used a fake profile that collected these images from random profiles around the world, with the only condition that they didn’t capture selfies or intimate moments, only moments that were easy to forget. Inspired by Susan Sontag’s words in her book “Regarding the Pain of Others”, where she states that “a book of photographs is a book of quotations”, in this project the images are accompanied by excerpts from books by writers such as Albert Camus, Clarice Lispector, Pedro Lemebel, Jennifer Egan, Anne Carson, Siri Hustvedt, Paul Auster, Ursula K Le Guin, Jean Genet, David Foster-Wallace, James Joyce, Lydia Davis, bell hooks, JG Ballard, Virginie Despentes, among others. This book is a continuation of our research into image collections, appropriation and digital reproducibility.
